Baroque MusicOur annual Carols for Charity morning with tea/coffee and biscuits, a festive stall and this year we will be playing ‘Carols Bingo’. Come along and find out what that is all about! We support two charities each year at this event. This year they are Sight for Surrey and Love Me, Love My Mind. Admission £2.

Review

Have you ever heard of Carols Bingo? No, we hadn’t either, but our resourceful Director of Music, Andrew Storey, came up with the idea as a change to our normal format of “Carols for Charity” on Saturday 21 December.

What a morning it was! All the chosen carols were allocated a number, and each member of the audience and choir given a bingo card to complete. Numbers were drawn out of a hat and prizes awarded for the first “completed line” and then “completed cards”. Record audience numbers, coffee throughout the morning, super singing and a festive stall rounded off the picture.

But now to the more serious part of the morning. We always nominate two local charities to support at this event, and this year we chose “Love Me, Love My Mind” and “Sight for Surrey”. Love Me Love My Mind is a small charity based in Epsom which aims to promote better understanding of mental health and to support the wellbeing of everyone in the community. Sight for Surrey offers a lifetime of support for people who are blind or partially sighted, deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing. Two really worthwhile causes which we were pleased to learn more about during the morning.

I am delighted to say that we raised £1,560, with £780 being donated to each of the charities – another record!

Thank you to all who helped organise such a successful and enjoyable morning.
